About Us

Assiniboia is a non-profit housing co-op that is collectively managed by members with the help of the volunteer board of directors also made up of co-op members. This arrangement offers an alternative way of living for those who have the initiative and desire to manage their own circumstances in a consensus based decision-making environment.

We are located in the centre of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have been in existence since Feb 22nd 1967. This blog is an attempt to collect and preserve pieces of our history. The archival team started this project in February of 2013. If you have any pictures, records, or memories of your time in one of the cooperative houses please comment to get in touch with us! We would love to see your contributions.
